Before you embed a video, you will need to change your view to "HTML". Then you copy / paste the embed code, then change back to normal view. Try that to see if it works so you can see the video in your blog, rather than the code.
I felt the EXACT same way! In fact, I had to do a "take 2" blog for Thing 10!!! Crazy! It was fun looking up videos and my kids look up Youtube videos all the time (cheezy and lame ones, of course!). I found it much easier just to cut and paste the link rather than downloading, etc.
